Drug Use and Mental Health? pick any from examples in instructions

The paper should be 10-15 pages in length (not including a cover page and references).  The paper should include at least 3 peer empirical articles (can be found in EBSCO Host) and at least two other references (books, magazines, etc.).  All articles and references should be from the past 10 years. 

Research paper instructions:

The paper should be written in APA style.  See Schoology for resources for writing with APA.  Rough drafts are welcome for feedback, but must be given to me at least 2 weeks prior to the date the paper is due and must clearly be labeled as a rough draft.

Things to do:

• Try to find review articles and other basic information to use for background outside of what is provided in the text and other assigned materials.
• Find 3 empirical articles (they must have a methods/results section)
• Write the paper –
  • Background information
  • Describe/summarize articles
  • Analyze topic and finding from the articles
  • Propose future direction/research

Requirements:

• The 3 empirical papers must have results/methods sections.  You can use as many as you would like, but there must be at least three.
• Describe the background, methods, results and conclusions of the empirical papers. 
• Provide your own take on the topic in the form of a critique and future research ideas.  You must show that you have gone beyond a summery and show you have critically thought about the topic. 
• The paper must include APA format.  There are two primary ways you will use APA formatting: referencing and the use of section headers. 
  • Referencing must be in APA format.  See resources in Schoology for more information.  Any information or conclusions that are not your own, must be cited – give that person the credit for their work. 
  • Section Headers are required for your paper.  These should be descriptive of the paragraph(s) in that section.  Example: “Overview of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” then “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Substance Use Treatment” then “Examination into the Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” then “Conclusion”

• The paper should be 10-15 pages in length, double spaced, 12 pt. font, one-inch margins, with an additional title page and references.  The paper should follow APA format. 
• Reference page – only include references you have read.  If you have any questions, please ask.
