Task description

This assignment requires the selection, justification and application of one or two (max.) conceptual tools and theories presented in Modules 4,5, or 6. You will need to develop an integrated understanding of the multiple dimensions of the project, in order to explain the ‘hows/whys’ of the project’s outcomes.

This involves a retrospective application of selected concepts/theories to your PfL. Informed personal reflection (based on the application of conceptual tools and theory) on project management processes, surrounded by specific situations and leading to specific outcomes, constitutes the core of this assignment. A minimum of 5 academic references must be used to substantiate your arguments. Thus, this assignment was designed to get you thinking critically about how concepts/theories for managing complex projects are applied in diverse contextsituations. It was also designed to develop your generic skills in writing and presenting logical and persuasive arguments.

To develop this major report, you must go through four major components:

Component 1: Introduction, you must briefly describe your PfL, explaining the main issues of you PfL (one short paragraph); and describe what you will present in the following sections. Please enclose a copy of a summary of your PfL in the Appendix. 2

Component 2.

You need to select one or two theory/concept from Modules 4, 5, 6 that you think will help you to explain your PfL. Then, you need to develop a brief review of the literature and: (i) Explain and justify why the selected theory/model might help to understand your PfL. Here you need to relate specific features of your project to concepts/theories you have selected. You need to use academic references to develop this step (hint: see list of prescribed and recommended reading in L@GU).

Component 3:

Application of theories/concepts (selected from Modules 4, 5, or 6), to analise your PfL. Here you need describe links between theories and practice, explain (compare and contrast) ideas and apply them to your PfL raising practical implications regarding the management of your PfL. In other words, you need to retrospectively apply your selected theory/concept and, based on that application you need to say what you (as project manager) would have done different.
