Concepts of the Just War Theory- Theories of War in growth and transformation of the United States Military

This activity addresses module outcomes 1 & 2. Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • MO1: Differentiate between liberalism and realism. (CO1)
  • MO2: Analyze the just war theory. (CO1)

By examining the theories of war, it is possible to better understand how a nation justifies the creation and expansion of its military power. It is also possible to comprehend, in greater detail, the bond that exists between international relations and war. Additionally, by examining the Just War Theory, it is possible to find whether a nation’s aggression against another can be morally justified.

After reading and viewing the assigned materials, answer the following questions in a discussion post:

  • Describe how one of the theories can be used to justify the growth and transformation of the United States military whether in war or peacetime.
  • Finally, explain whether the United States’ actions throughout history can be morally justified under the three concepts of the Just War Theory
