Background:
You are the Regional Director of Human Resources for a prominent hospital in Atlanta, GA. One of your goals is to reach out to the community to invest in future leaders. Additionally, having a functional internship program helps to establish a robust pool of trained candidates that could led to a vigorous recruitment pool; not to mention becoming a resource for colleges and universities helps to strengthen the community at large and contributes to educational sustainability. Your internship project will be for three types of programs: business, management, and allied health.
Directions:
Create your program proposal for your internship program to present to the board of trustees. How will this program enhance your competitive advantage? What job or departments will be targeted for on the job training? Who will manage the program? When the program began and how long is each internship; do they differ? What are the requirements for participation? How will you get the buy in from department heads; what is in for them? What colleges and universities do you plan to target? How do you plan to market the program? What is the budget? For the management internship, what are your goals for this role? Create an internship goal checklist; what are some important skills that must be learned on the job? Create a job description, compensation study (research some other companies to see what they pay interns (document in your compensation study). How will you determine program effectiveness? Create an assessment survey for your group of interns and partnering managers complete after the program is finished.
